OLLIs Celebrate Veterans Day

The Veterans Day holiday marks the end of World War I and is a day to honor and give thanks to U.S. veterans who have served their country both during war and peacetime.  Originally known as “Armistice Day”, November 11, 1919 was the first anniversary following the end of World War I.

On this day, many Osher Institutes throughout the country pay homage to Veterans Day with special programming to not only honor and appreciate veterans, but also to provide an opportunity to share “incredible stories of courage, determination and survival” such as OLLI at California State San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus with its bonus lecture on “Stories of Coachella Valley’s World War II Veterans – culled from interview of more than 400 local World War II veterans.”
